Our Mission
Night Sky Rescue was founded with one mission — to give shelter dogs the second chances they deserve through rescue, rehabilitation, education, and advocacy. We take in owner surrenders, pull dogs from high-kill shelters, and help dogs of all sizes find safe, loving homes. We also focus on helping dogs who are overlooked, behaviorally challenged, fearful, or at risk, while providing them with structure, training, decompression, and compassionate care to help them successfully transition into loving homes.
Founded by Marlena Piacenza, a shelter behavior specialist and canine behaviorist known for her work with difficult shelter dogs, Night Sky Rescue was created from years of hands-on experience working directly inside the shelter system. Beyond rescue, we are passionate about community education and creating programs for children and teens to teach compassion, responsible pet ownership, dog body language, and animal advocacy.
